ABOUT THE SALE OF CHAMETZ
During the eight days of Passover, 1)
One may not eat Chametz of any kind. 3)
One may not derive any kind of benefit of Chametz. (To sell or feed it to one’s animal etc….) 2)
One may not own Chametz!
Therefore since it is prohibited to possess chametz on Passover, any chametz left undisposed must be sold to a non-Jew.
All such chametz, as well as all chametz utensils that were not thoroughly cleaned, should be stored away. The storage area should be locked or taped shut for the duration of the holiday.
Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover, and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends.
KNOW YE
that I the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Levi Y. Illulian /Rabbi Yisrael Noach Raichik to act in my place and stead, and in my behalf to sell all Chometz possessed by me (knowingly or unknowingly) as defined by the Torah and Rabbinic Law (e.g. chametz, possible chametz, and all kind of chametz mixtures).
Also, chametz that tends to harden and adhere to inside surfaces of pans, pots, or cooking utensils, the utensils themselves, as well as pet food that contain chametz and mixtures thereof.
Rabbi Levi Y. Illulian/Rabbi Y. N. Raichik is also empowered to lease all places wherein the chametz owned by me may be found, particularly at the address/es listed below, and elsewhere.
Rabbi Levi Y. Illulian/Rabbi Y.N. Raichik has full right to appoint any agent or substitute in his stead and said substitute shall have full right to sell and lease as provided herein.
Rabbi Levi Y. Illulian/Rabbi Y. N. Raichik also has the full power and right to act as he deems fit and proper in accordance with all the details of the Bill of Sale used in the transaction to sell all my chametz. chametz mixtures, etc., as provided herein. This power is in conformity with all Torah, Rabbinic and Civil laws.
The above given power is in conformity with all Torah, Rabbinical regulations, and laws, and also in accordance with the laws of the State of California and of the United States. And to this I hereby affix my signature on the below date:
